Wayne McGuigan leads a 15-strong Irish squad into Florence Court on Saturday, as more than 60 countries start the same race at the same moment.
Ireland's team for the Big's Backyard Ultra World Team Championship is set. Fifteen runners, backed by six reserves, will line up at Florence Court, Co Fermanagh, at 13:00 Irish time on Saturday 17 October for Big Dog's Satellite Championships: Team Ireland.
At the top of the official selection list is Wayne McGuigan, who earned his place with 50 yards at Last One Standing Florence Court in June. That is the best qualifying performance in the squad, and it puts him within touching distance of the venue record of 52 yards, held by teammate Jivee Tolentino.
"We genuinely believe that every single one of the 15 have the potential to go above and beyond what they've already achieved to get onto the team," Tom Owens told the Backyard Ultra Channel.
